The Pinecone is Brother Cycles' brand-new all-terrain bike, constructed entirely of steel. Its design is clearly inspired by the retro mountain bikes of the '80s and '90s, combined with modern features to create the ultimate all-around bike. Sure, the Pinecone is a great bike for the pub, but if you trust it, you'll discover a surprisingly capable all-terrain machine that will keep a smile on your face all day long in the saddle.
With 440 mm chainstays, these are short and agile enough for loose trails while still providing secure support on longer rides.
This perfectly complements the 70-degree head angle, providing just the right amount of slack for varying riding styles and terrain. The Pinecone is constructed from slender chromoly steel tubing to avoid excessive stiffness. Heat treatment makes it exceptionally robust. This gives the frame just the right amount of flex – the Pinecone is incredibly fun and forgiving on rough surfaces. Quick-release dropouts, a 1 1/8-inch head tube, and a relatively flat top tube further contribute to the Pinecone's retro charm. To make the Pinecone as versatile and practical as possible, it also incorporates some modern details—features you wouldn't find on a 30-year-old mountain bike. Of particular note is the ability to run 650b wheels with tire clearance up to 2.6 inches (depending on the brake system) and to mount both rim and disc brakes. The reasoning behind this is simple: V-brakes are great, and there are many really good used models available. At the same time, the power and reliability of disc brakes are undeniable; therefore, the Pinecone offers mounting points for both types of brakes. Another advantage of disc brakes is the freedom to choose your wheel size – 700c or 26 inches, no problem. The rear wheel features horizontal dropouts, allowing for easy singlespeed conversion. Alternatively, the included derailleur hanger insert can be used if you prefer gears. Up front, a robust, segmented fork with three mounting points on each leg provides additional carrying options, for example, for racks or Anything Cages.
