Introducing the Mini-Max V3! It’s the fast, lightweight Omnium you know and love—now featuring adjustable rocker dropouts. By combining the large, comfortable tires and proven thru-axles of the "WiFi" model with these highly functional new dropouts, we believe we’ve once again created the ultimate cargo bike—one where versatility comes first.
The adjustable rocker dropouts allow for a wide range of drivetrain options (though not all at once, of course): from classic derailleur gears to internal gear hubs or belt drives! You can even ride it as a fixed-gear bike, if you’re among the truly hardcore. Thanks to interchangeable inserts, you can choose between thru-axle and quick-release standards, depending on your rear hub spacing and drivetrain choice. It’s a good idea to pick up a spare set right away so you can quickly replace a damaged derailleur hanger if needed.
The Mini-Max is the "middle child" of the lineup, combining the best features of the Cargo and the Mini models. Its shorter wheelbase delivers a ride feel similar to a standard bicycle, allowing for a tighter turning circle and greater agility. Although the cargo area does away with the "horns" found on the standard Cargo model, it remains compatible with extension bars and is capable of hauling impressive loads!
Positioning the front wheel more centrally beneath the cargo platform has a positive effect on steering and handling, although stability under heavy loads is slightly lower than that of the Cargo model.
The Mini-Max is the ideal choice for those who value agile handling and a smaller parking footprint, without necessarily needing to regularly max out the cargo capacity.
The Mini-Max V3 is designed for 55 mm (2.15") wide tires on both the front and rear wheels. The list of advantages for such tires is long; here are a few we consider particularly important: high-volume tires can be ridden at lower pressures, creating a noticeable cushioning layer between the rider and the ground. This ensures significantly greater comfort and control on all surfaces, making riding on poor roads, gravel, and cobblestones a breeze. While the fast semi-slick tread pattern entails a minimal trade-off in rolling speed, it primarily enhances grip and stability while also reducing the risk of punctures.
The frame and fork have also been revised and are now designed for thru-axles (15 x 100 mm front, 12 x 142 mm rear). Although thru-axles were first used on downhill mountain bikes in the late 1990s, they are now standard on most bicycles equipped with disc brakes—and they are the ideal solution for our cargo bikes as well. The axle is inserted through a closed mount in the frame and fork and through the hub, then screwed directly into the dropout on the opposite side. Above all, however, this system increases stiffness—particularly during braking and under load— and minimizes the risk of incorrect installation as well as disc brake rub.
