SimWorks is proud to announce SimHEADS by Tangeseiki—a premium headset developed in collaboration with one of Japan’s most esteemed manufacturers of precision components. Based on Tangeseiki’s "Classic" model—the most durable and precise offering in their Technoglide series—SimHEADS has been specifically configured to SimWorks’ specifications to meet their exacting standards for performance and longevity.
A bicycle does not change direction simply by turning its wheels; rather, it initiates a turn by tilting the frame. This process—known as counter-steering—requires a headset capable of precisely translating even the rider's most subtle steering inputs into controlled motion. SimHEADS was engineered to optimally support this critical interface, thereby enabling smooth, precise steering that feels both immediate and intuitive.
Tangeseiki manufactures its bearings entirely in-house—a rarity in modern bicycle component production. The stainless steel bearings utilized in SimHEADS feature a manufacturing precision of ±0.004 mm, along with mirror-polished races.
Combined with its angular contact bearing design, this results in exceptional smoothness, longevity, and sustained performance—even under heavy loads.
Unlike conventional headsets—where non-rotating components are often made from 6000-series aluminum for cost-saving reasons—SimHEADS utilizes A7075-T6 aluminum for both the crown race and the top cap. This ensures that the exact same material is used for every single component of the headset. This choice of material provides tensile and yield strengths that are nearly double those of standard alloys; this not only enhances durability but also guarantees consistently high surface quality across all components.
SimHEADS will initially be available in the standard 1-1/8-inch format, with additional standards already in the planning stages. The product is aimed at cyclists who value precise steering feel, long-term reliability, and uncompromisingly crafted components.
